The role of the Inside Sales Support Representative is to provide administrative support to the Inside Sales Supervisor, Sales Manager, outside Sales Team and external customers.


PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):


  • Provide estimates and bids for all jobs pertaining to the EPG & Industrial business for the assigned territory or Rep.
  • Reviews plans and specifications, interpret specific job requirements, and scope of work.
  • Prepare quote worksheets, obtain vendor and shop quotations, and generate cost proposals with the scope of work for the final proposal from the outside sales team to customer.
  • Respond to all telephone and email inquiries for quotations and assist the assigned salesman with the formulation of the proposal to the customer.
  • Qualifies inquires and distributes leads to outside sales reps.
  • Follow up on all bid jobs to determine the successful contractor and determine Patten’s competitive position on all jobs quoted.
  • Maintain a win/loss bid log for outside salesmen via Sales Link and produce monthly reports.
  • Utilize Sales Link for all Sales, Quoting, Bidding, and Project related business.


  • Maintains internal relationships within Patten for leads, marketing, accounting and other critical areas for success.
  • Attend training as assigned by management.


  • Attends and conducts meetings with the engineers, contractors, and end users as needed.
  • Maintains the PSQ database for all quoted projects.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/meetings and reviewing professional publications.
  • Keeps track of all lead databases on a daily basis and works with the assigned salesmen to determine if we have opportunities within the deal (e.g. Dodge, CAT Leads etc.)
  • Interacts with the outside sales team on a regular basis.


  • Position requires no supervision of staff



  • A two or four year undergraduate degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • Previous experience in power systems sales or related sales coordination preferred.
  • Computer proficiency in excel, access, Power Point and CRM software.


Strong electrical background with high technical competency for Power Generation products. Minimum knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems as it relates to Power System projects. The ability to manage own projects, read and interpret electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings and schematics.
