  • Overview


    The Technology Sales Rep position provides overall support to Patten Industries Machine Sales Reps, Equipment Rental Reps, & Product Support Reps, as it relates to sales & after sales support of technology for customers in all markets, as well as any product line utilizing technology. The Primary goal will be to grow technology driven revenue through products sales and services.  


    Principle Functions:

    • Provide application expertise to customer and sales reps in assigned markets as it relates to technology on new/used equipment & work tools.
    • Provide sales support and quoting of applicable equipment product lines and liaise with Site Tech Midwest for the purpose of technology quoting.
    • Provide after sales (product support) services when required by customer.
    • Provide application/identification of rental equipment as it relates to the customer’s needs.
    • Liaise with customer and internal personnel to ensure that all needs are met in an efficient manner by providing industry leading, pro-active solutions.
    • Provide support to the Tractor Sales, Rental & Product Support teams.
    • Accountable for meeting agreed upon department sales metrics.
    • Assist in departmental process streamlining.
    • Evaluate latest technology for potential implementation.
    • Maintain equipment knowledge (both Cat and competitive equipment) thru training and educational seminars or courses.
    • Assist marketing as required including development and distribution of internal/external communication.
    • Liaise with Site Tech Midwest for any Sales or Product Support related items and/or issue.
    • Other Projects as assigned.



    • A four year undergraduate degree from an accredited college preferred.
    • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment / systems & components
    • A minimum of at least five years demonstrated previous successful Outside sales record in the construction industry
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • Must have sales skills to effectively help the customer to overcome objections and close the sale.
    • Must be a motivated self-starter.
    • Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to assist customers and employees in a professional manor.
    • Must have sufficient mechanic knowledge to understand customer equipment opportunities and to express these opportunities to the appropriate area within Patten.
    • Must have sufficient knowledge to effectively utilize Internet, e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing programs and database management.
    • Must be able to effectively utilize and/or be fluent in the following within the first 6 months of employment:

      • Infocast
      • DBSI
      • Sales Link
      • VisionLink
      • Storefront Applications
      • PCS
      • CTS
      • CCR/CPT Programs
      • Reman Core Criteria
      • PSK’s
    • Strong customer service Skills
    • Strong organizational skills & detail oriented
    • Experience with site survey and technology in the construction industry.
